Inter Milan are ready to splash in total of around €80 million in order to sign striker Jonathan David.
This according to today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, via FCInterNews.
They report that the Nerazzurri would only do so as a replacement for a starting striker like Marcus Thuram.
It is no secret that Inter are targeting David. The Canadian could be the latest high profile free transfer coup for the Nerazzurri.
However, a deal for David would not be cheap taking into consideration wages and commissions.
Tuttosport note that plenty of big European clubs are keen on David. These include Juventus and Bayern Munich.
However, the newspaper report that one club who have pulled out of the race are Barcelona.
As a consequence of the competition for David’s signature, the Canadian’s representatives have made their demands high.
In terms of wages, David wants a deal worth around €60 million gross in total over the duration of his contract.
Then there would be the matter of around €20 million in total between a sign-on bonus for David and agent commissions.
Tuttosport report that Inter would be willing to spend this. But not if David is to become a backup striker.
Therefore, the Nerazzurri would only sign David if a starting striker leaves. Most likely Jonathan David.
