Inter Milan are not panicking in the Serie A title race, and they still believe they can recover from Thursday’s shock loss to Fiorentina.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews. They report that there will be no emergency team retreat before tomorrow’s rematch.

Inter’s Serie A title hopes certainly took a blow last week.

The Nerazzurri travelled to Tuscany to face Fiorentina in Serie A. And they lost 3-0.

Losing meant that Inter remained three points behind Napoli at the top of the Serie A table. But with no more game in hand.

Moreover, the performance was utterly below part.

The 3-0 scoreline – the first match that Inter Milan have lost by a three-goal margin in six years – did not flatter Fiorentina at all.

Thursday’s loss has naturally raised big doubts about Inter’s Serie A title hopes.

However, reports the Gazzetta, behind the scenes the Nerazzurri are not panicking.

The team know that they obviously need a big reaction against Fiorentina as they get their opportunity for revenge just a few days later tomorrow.

Three points will be vital to keep pace with Napoli at the top. As will a convincing performance to restore some confidence.

Nevertheless, reports the Gazzetta, Inter believe that they can make Thursday’s wretched evening look like a blip.

Inter’s form in the months leading up to Thursday was certainly at a title-winning level.

Therefore, the Nerazzurri are working calmly to try and reestablish that standard.

In the meantime, reports the Gazzetta, Inter coach Simone Inzaghi has not kept the team in a pre-match team retreat ahead of tomorrow’s rematch with Fiorentina.

The coach feels that with the team having been action twice a week for a couple months now – sixteen total matches since the start of December – some rest and distraction is important.

Therefore, Inzaghi has allowed his players to go and be with their families ahead of tomorrow’s match.
