Nicola Zalewski credits international teammate Piotr Zielinski with helping him settle in after his move to Inter Milan.

Zalewski spoke to InterTV after his move, via FCInterNews. He gave his thoughts on joining the Nerazzurri, and also opened up about making his debut in the Milan derby yesterday.

Zalewski has only been an Inter player for a couple days now.

However, the Polish international has certainly made an impact already.

Piotr Zalewski came off the bench yesterday in the derby against AC Milan. That was certainly a big match in which to make his first ever appearance for the Nerazzurri.

But the pressure evidently did not phase Zalewski.

The 23-year-old put in a good display, and capped it off by assisting Stefan de Vrij for Inter’s equalizing goal in stoppage time.

That was a testament to how quickly Zalewski has settled in.

However, the Pole has not done so without help. Inter’s squad and staff have welcomed him, and he’s had a particularly easy connection with fellow Polish international Piotr Zielinski.

Inter new boy Zalewski noted that “Piotr’s helped me a lot with this move.”

“We’ve been in touch a lot,” the 23-year-old added of his national and now club teammate.

Zalewski called Zielinski “a great player.”

“I admire him a lot,” he added. “And I hope to enjoy playing in this shirt along with him as much as possible.”

Zalewski also called the move to Inter “a very important point in my career.”

“Inter are one of the best teams in the world,” he continued. “And I hope that I can help my teammates achieve their goals, because from today on they’re my goals as well.”

Zalewski went on to call debuting in the derby against Milan with an assist “a beautiful feeling.”

“It was a bit of a tricky, and unlucky match. But we did well to keep believing in it right to the end and get a draw out of it.”

Zalewski also noted that “I’m only 23 years old, so I have a lot to improve on in my game.”

“But I think that this is the right team for me to do that.”

“The coaching staff and the coach really wanted to bring me here,” Zalewski added. “I think they saw something in me, and I hope I can repay their trust.”
