Inter Milan Legend Argues Argentina Starlet ‘Clear Talent, But Not Ready For Inter & Needs Playing Time’ | OneFootball

Nicola Berti feels that teenage Argentine starlet Valentin Carboni to be a “clear talent” but not ready for playing time at Inter Milan.

The legendary former Nerazzurri midfielder gave his thoughts on the 19-year-old in yesterday’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, via FCInterNews.

Inter have a decision to make with teenage attacking midfielder Carboni this summer.

The Argentine has taken a big step forward in the senior game over the last twelve months.

Carboni joined Monza on loan last summer. The objective was for him to get regular playing time in the senior game.

It took Carboni a couple months to start to earn his spot in the Brianzoli starting eleven.

But over the course of the campaign, the Inter-owned man really showed his value in the present – and the sense that a lot more is to come in the future.

This summer, Carboni is part of Argentina’s squad at the Copa America. That is certainly a testament to the growth that he has undergone.

But for Inter, it does not look as though they will make Carboni a part of their first team squad now that his loan with Monza is over.

The Nerazzurri will therefore have to decide whether to loan Carboni out again, or even cash in on him by selling him.

Reportedly, French side Marseille are keen on the teenage attacking midfielder.

Berti: “Valentin Carboni A Clear Talent But Not Ready For Inter Milan”

Berti said of Carboni that “We’re talking about a crystal clear talent.”

“If it were up to me, I would keep him at Inter for life,” he continued.

“But at the same time we need to be objective,” Berti said.

“Particularly when we look at the personnel currently available to Simone Inzaghi.”

“He can’t start for this Inter yet,” Berti argued. “And at the current stage of his career, he needs to be part of a team where he can start regularly.”

“We’re talking about a 19-year-old player,” he noted.

“It’s better to send him somewhere else to gain more experience. Maybe for another season so that he can grow further.”
