Inter Milan have made progress in negotiations for Parma striker Ange-Yoan Bonny and are confident of striking a deal this summer (h/t La Gazzetta dello Sport).
The Nerazzurri have gained an advantage in the transfer race, thanks to their new manager Cristian Chivu, who oversaw Bonny’s progress at Parma last season.
The 21-year-old consistently showcased his brilliant hold-up play, ability to drop deep to aid the build-up, dribbling flair and an eye for creative passes.
Napoli hold a strong interest in the French U21 star, but Inter are optimistic about completing the deal after the Club World Cup. He could cost around €35 million.
Inter are also looking to integrate young striker Francesco Pio Esposito into the first team after he enjoyed a prolific loan spell with Spezia in Serie B.
Chivu wants to evaluate the Italian teenager in the Club World Cup before making a final decision.
The Nerazzurri boss sees Bonny as an ideal back-up to strikers Marcus Thuram and Lautaro Martinez.
With Marko Arnautovic confirming his exit this summer, Bonny would add depth to Inter’s attack.
Inter are also keen on signing Valencia centre-back Cristhian Mosquera, but the deal could be difficult as he wants regular game time.
Inter have already secured the signings of Luis Henrique and Petar Sucic.
Chivu’s first mission will be the Club World Cup. Inter take on Mexican outfit Monterrey in their opening game on June 18.
