Inter Milan stars Denzel Dumfries and Stefan de Vrij have been included in the Netherlands squad as is often the case.
The Oranje are preparing for their final two outings in this edition of the UEFA Nations League group stage. They will be hosting Hungary in Amsterdam on Saturday, November 16th, before taking on Bosnia away from home three days later.
The Netherlands have only assembled five points from their first four fixtures. Hence, they’re trailing behind group leaders Germany who have collected a tally of 10 points.
So while the Germans will be the big favorites to advance to the tournament’s semi-finals, the Dutch will be looking to at least finish the campaign on a high note with a couple of positive results.
Ronaldo Koeman has once again resorted to the services of two Inter stars in the shape of Dumfries and de Vrij.
The duo have been a regular feature in Simone Inzaghi’s lineup this season. De Vrij has started most of the club’s contests since the start of the campaign, as Francisco Acerbi has been nursing an injury.
For his part, Dumfries has been vying for a spot on the right against savvy veteran Matteo Darmian. Inzaghi has been alternating between the two.
But as BeIN Sports explains, the big news in the Dutch camp is the return of Frenkie De Jong. The Barcelona star will be making his first appearance on the international stage in 14 months.
The midfielder had also missed Euro 2024 due to an ankle problem. However, he has recently returned to action with the Blaugrana.
And aside from the Inter duo, Serie A has two other representatives in the Dutch squad. These are AC Milan’s in-form midfielder Tijjani Reijnders and new Juventus signing Teun Koopmeiners.
