Coach Simone Inzaghi will demand continuity in terms of the spine of the Inter Milan squad for the upcoming season.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews. The newspaper report that the coach’s main ambition is to take a run at the Champions League.

The current season is really winding down now. And plans for the next one are well underway.

At Inter, there is the complicated matter of the club’s ownership situation. Oaktree Capital look to take over at the helm from Suning in the coming weeks.

However, that shouldn’t affect the club’s plans on the pitch too much.

The core of the senior management will stay the same. And Oaktree will be happy to allow them to stick to the plans they’ve been making for the past several weeks.

Simone Inzaghi Wants Continuity In Spine Of Inter Milan Squad

As far as Inter’s plans for the summer, the Gazzetta confirm that Inzaghi’s priority is to change as little as possible.

That is the demand that the 48-year-old has already put forward to his club.

Of course, there will be players leaving, as there always are.

And there could even be a fairly big sale like that of Denzel Dumfries.

But by and large, Inzaghi’s priority is to keep all of the key players from this season’s starting eleven.

There will be the need to strengthen in depth. But in terms of the real spine of this season’s team, Inzaghi wants it to remain as it has been since the start of the current campaign.

This season, Inter put everything together in Serie A. They won the title in dominant fashion.

But in the Champions League, there is a certain feeling that the Nerazzurri did not do as much as they were capable of when they exited the competition at the round of sixteen stage to Atletico Madrid.

It is for that reason that Inzaghi feels that he can guide the team to another final – or maybe even better – so long as the club don’t remove any key players from the squad this summer.
