Simone Inzaghi feels Inter Milan showed “immense heart” against Napoli, and that facing Feyenoord will be “very tough.”

The Nerazzurri coach gave his thoughts to Italian broadcaster RAI Radio 1, via FCInterNews, after yesterday’s 1-1 top-of-the-table draw with the Partenopei.

Napoli pushed Inter Milan to their absolute physical limits yesterday.

The Nerazzurri were coping with a slew of injuries in the wingback positions.

This made it difficult for Inter to keep Napoli at bay on the flanks, as Antonio Conte looked to stretch the pitch.

And in the midfield battle, Inter conceded huge swaths of territory in the second half of yesterday’s match.

Therefore, the second half saw Inter really have to dig in and defend. They rarely ventured anywhere near Napoli’s penalty area, and faced a bombardment in their own.

Inzaghi: “Inter Showed Immense Heart Vs Napoli, Feyenoord Will Be Very Tough”

Inter did not quite manage to hang on to see out a 1-0 win yesterday.

There will have been a sense of great disappointment with how the Nerazzurri conceded a last gasp equalizer.

However, a point was still a decent enough result. And it owed to a really hearts-on-sleeve performance from Inter, which saw every player put their bodies on the lines.

Inter Milan coach Simone Inzaghi gave his thoughts after yesterday’s match. “It was an intense match,” the coach said. “Between two great teams.”

“For our part, it was a good first half,” the coach went on. “In the second half, we began to feel some tiredness, so Napoli pushed up.”

“We defended quite well,” Inzaghi said. “Except on the one sequence for their goal, where we should have done better.”

“We have to remember that we were up against a great team. Now, there are eleven matches to go, we’ll see what happens.”

Of his team’s performance, Inzaghi said that “I have nothing to say to the guys, they showed immense heart.”

“I congratulated them after,” the Inter coach added.

“Calhanoglu and Dimarco had asked to be substituted at halftime,” Inzaghi noted. “I wanted to put them back on for the second half, because we’d ended the first on a high note.”

“But then I had to take them off. We don’t have any other options on the flanks, so I had to adapt Dumfries on the left and Pavard on the right, who’s not used to playing at wingback.”

“But everyone gave their all,” Inzaghi said.

Meanwhile, Inzaghi gave his thoughts on the upcoming Champions League matches against Feynoord. “We have to play in the round of sixteen knowing it’ll be very tough,” he said.

“We saw what Feyenoord did against Milan and Bayern Munich in the Netherlands,” the coach noted. “They’re an intense team whose fans can push them along.”

“We’ll try to do our best,” he added.
