Legendary former goalkeeper Julio Cesar knows a thing or two about winning the Treble.

The Brazilian was the player who was between the posts as the Nerazzurri won all of the Serie A title, the Coppa Italia, and the Champions League during the 2009-10 season.

Asked whether he thinks that the current Inter Milan team can echo his own side’s accomplishments by winning the Treble, Julio Cesar replied “of course.”

“When you reach this level, you can dream,” he argued.

“Also, the win against Bayern can give them confidence.”

Cesar was confident: “They can reach the semifinal.”

Then, Cesar looked back on Inter’s Champions League semifinal tie against Barcelona in 2010. “In the first leg we won 3-1,” he recalled.

“And it was pandemonium.”

“As soon as we got back to the hotel, I turned on the tv,” Cesar continued. “And saw that the Blaugranas players were inviting their fans to the stadium for the comeback.”

“Then I switched it off right away!” Cesar laughed.

As for the second leg, “it was an epic match.”

“The red card for Thiago Motta. My miraculous save on Messi.”

“The middle fingers from Jose in midfield after the final whistle,” Cesar recalled.

“That’s the kind of performance you can put in a framed painting, and leave it there for the rest of your life.”

Cesar also agreed that current Inter keeper Yann Sommer is “underrated.”

“There’s always been relatively little talk of him,” the Brazilian added.

“He gives the team certainty.”

“Before every match Mourinho would say to me, ‘Julio, I’ll need you once or twice,'” Cesar noted. “‘Make sure you deliver.'”

“And it’s the same with Sommer.”
