Inter Milan and Bayern Muncih have both been put off by the high wage demands of former Juventus midfielder Adrien Rabiot.

This according to French outlet L’Equipe, via FCInterNews. They report that the 29-year-old is asking for €7.5 million net per season.

Rabiot is perhaps the highest-profile name in Europe currently without a club.

The Frenchman ended a five-year stint at Juventus this summer. This followed a failure to agree a new contract with the Bianconeri.

Last summer, Rabiot had been in a similar situation. But he and Juventus did reach an agreement on a one-season extension.

However, with that short-term deal already running out at the end of June, the can was only really kicked down the road.

Despite openness by Juventus to keep hold of Rabiot as part of new coach Thiago Motta’s project, the talks on a new contract for the former Paris Saint-Germain midfielder ultimately failed.

Rabiot has therefore been looking for a new club this summer.

L’Equipe note that the French international wants to join a club in the Champions League.

And it is not as though there has been a lack of interest in Rabiot’s signature.

From within Serie A, AC Milan had weighed up bringing the former Juventus man in.

And then Inter are no strangers to a high profile free transfer signing. This summer alone, both Mehdi Taremi and Piotr Zielinski have arrived via this route.

According to L’Equipe, Inter have been one of the clubs most seriously considering a surprise move for Rabiot.

The other, the French outlet anticipate, have been German giants Bayern.

But even though Rabiot would not command a transfer fee this summer, there would still be the matter of wages.

L’Equipe report that Rabiot has held firm on demands of €7.5 million net per season.

And both Inter and Bayern have balked at that amount, reports L’Equipe.
