Inter Miami have initiated talks with Atletico Madrid star Rodrigo De Paul over a potential summer transfer (h/t journalist Fabrizio Romano).

The Herons want to continue attracting high-profile names and have earmarked De Paul as their top target in this transfer window.

The midfielder is open to joining his best friend and Argentine teammate Lionel Messi in Miami.

De Paul has been linked with an exit this summer as part of Atletico’s summer overhaul.

Atletico value him at around €15 million, and he would be a marquee signing for Miami.

They need to reduce the playmaking onus on Messi, and De Paul would be an excellent addition to the squad.

Despite the exit rumours, Miami are confident of extending Messi’s contract, which expires in December.

The former Barcelona star’s presence will be key in persuading De Paul to move to the United States.

De Paul has been a prominent fixture for the Argentine national team, playing a pivotal role in the 2022 World Cup victory and the Copa America titles in 2021 and 2024.
