Inter Having Difficulties on Both Ends of the Pitch

The outlook of the Inter season changed drastically within a week, as the Nerazzurri suffered three losses in a row, bowing out from the Coppa Italia and losing their advantage over Napoli in Serie A. They hadn’t been defeated in three consecutive matches without scoring since February 2012, La Gazzetta dello Sport informs.
The two tilts versus Bayern Munich were the lone highlights of a tough month of April. The squad has routinely looked spent. They eventually managed to get into the game after starting poorly, but their possession was very sterile.
The Inter attack has gone haywire without Marcus Thuram. Lautaro Martinez, who had hit the net in three straight games before the collective dip, hasn’t been able to lift it on his own. The Nerazzurri continue to have the most prolific frontline in Serie A. Though, it hasn’t been able to carry them when they needed it the most.
They have defensive problems too, as they have allowed 12 goals in the past 4 weeks, failing to keep a clean sheet. They had given up just 22 in the entire previous Serie A season. Their last truly convincing victory came versus Atalanta in mid-March.
In addition to the physical fatigue, Inter have been gassed from a mental standpoint, as they have often failed to react after conceding. They didn’t create a real chance versus Roma despite going down in the score early and didn’t rally versus Milan and Parma either. They managed to do it only against Bayern Munich. Their deep Champions League run, plus some key absences, has taken its toll on the other competitions.
