Lautaro Martinez feels that midfielder Davide Frattesi is a “fundamentally important” player for Inter Milan.

The Nerazzurri captain spoke to Italian broadcaster DAZN, via FCInterNews, after his team’s Serie A victory over Lecce, in which Frattesi had a starring role.

All this month, the transfer rumours have swirled around Frattesi.

Reportedly, the 25-year-old has grown discontent with his lack of playing time at Inter.

Therefore, rumours suggest, Frattesi has pushed for a move to a new club.

Reportedly, Roma are very keen on signing the former Sassuolo midfielder. And Frattesi, for his part, would welcome a return to his boyhood club the Giallorossi, according to rumours.

Inter, on the other hand, are in no hurry to sell Davide Frattesi in January.

And if the Nerazzurri were to consider allowing the Italian international to leave it would have to be for a very high fee.

Inter captain Lautaro Martinez said that Frattesi “knows” how important he is for the team. With or without starting regularly.

“He showed it last season,” the Argentine said.

“When he’s called to action, he always responds., We know what a good player he is, he’s fundamentally important for us.”

“I talk with him all the time,” Martinez said of Frattesi. “I love him, because he gives his all every day.”

“Whoever plays feels the pressure. And then the players who don’t play as much have to give that extra push to improve.”

And as far as improving on 2024 in 2025, Inter captain Martinez said “we hope so.”

Of his red hot scoring form after struggling for goals earlier in the season, the Argentine said that “goals are important.”

“But they have to be in service of the team.”

“When Inter win and I score, there’s twice as much happiness,” Martinez admitted. “I’m doing well, and that makes me proud.”
