Gareth Taylor says Kerstin Casparij will be unavailable for our Barclays Women's Super League meeting with Liverpool this weekend.

But the Blues boss provided good news on Khadija 'Bunny' Shaw's fitness, explaining that the Jamaican is in contention to start against the Reds.

Netherlands international Casparij was substituted at half-time in our 3-1 win over Leicester last time out after sustaining a concussion before the interval.

Due to head injury protocol, Taylor told the media in his pre-match press conference that the right-back will be ruled out for our latest WSL clash.

But he says she'll be fine to link-up with her Netherlands colleagues during the upcoming international break.

"[Kertsin will] be missing at the weekend with the concussion protocol," he said.

"But as I mentioned, with Naomi Layzell getting back to full fitness that’s a real plus for us in that sense.

"It's really unfortunate for Kerstin but she’ll be able to go to international duty and will be able to feature for them later in the camp."

Elsewhere, Taylor also offered the latest on Bunny Shaw's condition as the Jamaican waits for her first start for City since early December.

Following victory over Leicester in the WSL over two months ago, the striker has returned from a slight injury issue to make three out of our four matchday squads.

In our previous outing, an FA Cup meeting with the Foxes, she came from the bench to net our third in a 3-1 success.

And hen asked if Shaw is contention to play from the off against the Reds, Taylor said: "Potentially yeah.

"The conversations we’ve had with her you never want her to go through that, our job was to help and support as much as we could that’s as being teammates, staff and club, it's important.

"Hopefully she feels back in a really good place where we’re the ones who are important for her and will help her.

"She’s feeling a lot better for this free week to get ready, because everything happened so quickly with travelling around to Arsenal, it was quick and hard to have those in depth conversations to understand how she feels."
