Inter star Hakan Calhanoglu was subbed off after just 12 minutes into Roma-Inter with a suspected muscle injury.

The Turkey international started in the middle of the park for the defending Serie A champions, but his game didn’t last long.

Calhanoglu, in fact, was replaced after just 12 minutes by Italy international Frattesi.

DAZN reports that Calhanoglu felt discomfort in his left thigh.

When Simone Inzaghi’s assistant, Massimiliano Farris, noticed that the midfielder was limping, he asked for updates and was told by Calhanoglu that he could not continue playing.

Frattesi’s introduction means that Nicolò Barella moved to a central midfield position, becoming the Nerazzurri playmaker at the Stadio Olimpico.

Right before kick-off, Inter President Giuseppe Marotta complained about a packed fixture list, which raised the number of injuries for every European club.
