Chelsea are currently working on reaching a verbal agreement with Frankfurt striker Hugo Ekitike according to Sky Germany reporter Florian Plettenberg.
The Blues announced Liam Delap as their first summer signing on Wednesday evening after agreeing a £30m fee with Ipswich for the striker.
Chelsea face a critical window and could still sign another striker, but the club are also looking to add a centre back and right footed attacker.
With the signing of Delap confirmed, another forward isn’t as pressing an issue, however Chelsea do hold interest in Ekitike.
Ekitike is valued at €100m by Frankfurt and the 22-year-old scored 22 goals in all competitions this season as the Bundesliga outfit qualified for the Champions League.

Chelsea have no intention of paying the asking price and will try and negotiate the price down, and Plettenberg has provided a fresh update on the situation.
He took to X.com and said:
“Chelsea are currently working on a verbal agreement with Hugo #Ekitike!
“There has already been initial contact with Eintracht Frankfurt. #SGE are still demanding €100 million.
“It remains open whether Chelsea and Eintracht will reach an agreement. #CFC
“The next steps are already planned.”
Whilst the Blues would clearly like to add Ekitike to their squad if they can’t get a deal on terms that suits them they will move on.
