There have been some bizarre transfer rumours surrounding Old Trafford since INEOS began their tenure in February, but today’s will undoubtedly come as a shock to most supporters.
In a surprising turn of events, Manchester United are said to be considering a move for Tottenham Hotspur talisman Son Heung-min ahead of his contract expiry in June 2025, with the attacker viewed as a ‘viable option’ on their shortlist, according to GiveMeSport.
The Premier League veteran was recently hailed as a ‘world-class’ talent by his manager Ange Postecoglou, and when he’s in form, you’d struggle to disprove such a sentiment.
It remains to be seen if Son will decide to extend his stay in North London, where he was made captain of the club following the departure of Hugo Lloris last year. Given the integral role he still plays at 32 years old, it’s unlikely they’ll be comfortable seeing him depart as a free agent at the end of the campaign.

In United’s case, sanctioning the South Korean’s arrival could well go against INEOS’ transfer policy of prioritising the signings of younger players. Noussair Mazraoui, who was 26 at the time of his switch from Bayern Munich, was their most senior incoming of the previous window.
Son boasts 123 goals and 66 assists in 313 league appearances across his 10 years in England’s top flight. At times, he’s been one of the most dangerous forwards in the division, particularly during the prime years of his formidable partnership with ex-teammate Harry Kane.
He pockets a reported £190,000 per week with Spurs, which would put him level with Harry Maguire but above the likes of Luke Shaw and Christian Eriksen in M16.
