Barcelona will likely need to make significant sales this summer if they are to generate the funds required to spend on Hansi Flick’s top targets. One player that has been linked with a move away is Ferran Torres, who was recently rumoured to be garnering interest from Newcastle United.

Torres had a flying start to the 2023-24 season, but he was not afforded regular opportunities to start ahead of Robert Lewandowski, Lamine Yamal or Raphinha/Joao Felix, which meant that he was limited to 11 goals across all competitions. Despite this, he has no desire to leave.

Speaking to RAC1 (via Marca), Torres confirmed that he will not be leaving Barcelona during the upcoming summer transfer window.

“I’m very calm, I’m going to continue at Barcelona next year. (The media) can save their ink and change my name for someone else’s.

“It’s not only that I want to continue, it’s that I’m going to continue at Barcelona.”

Torres could end up being Barcelona’s backup striker next season, with Marc Guiu going to Chelsea and Vitor Roque also linked with a move away. His versatility could also be required, given that Raphinha may also be on the move this summer.
