Now operating the second half of the campaign with only four out-and-out forward players at his disposal, a squad shake-up may be necessary for Ruben Amorim to salvage something from Manchester United’s turbulent term.
Indeed, the head coach will undoubtedly be left feeling aggrieved at how the transfer window panned out; Antony, Marcus Rashford and Ethan Wheatley were all sent on loan, yet he was granted two defenders – one of which is yet to make his senior bow – as reinforcements.
Amorim has unfortunately been made to learn the hard way why occupying the United hot seat is now considered something of an impossible job, and, as has always been a prevalent theme around Old Trafford, he’ll likely have to call upon the youth.
Even prior to the lacklustre month of incomings, fans were rallying for young starlet Chido Obi-Martin to be promoted to the first team following his sensational run of performances.

The 17-year-old became a record-breaker for Arsenal’s U18s last season when he netted a remarkable 32 goals in 18 matches. Such prolific form only continued when he swapped the red of the Gunners for the red of the 20-time champions, as he has been scoring goals for fun in Manchester – and it hasn’t gone unnoticed.
Numerous reports have claimed Obi-Martin has been involved in training with his senior United teammates at Carrington, prompting supporters to believe his debut may be on the cards in the coming weeks.
Today, Fabrizio Romano weighed in on the situation via GiveMeSport, explaining: “Manchester United always saw Chido Obi-Martin as part of a future first squad plan, so I wouldn’t be surprised if he gets the chance from now to the end of the season to join the first-team.”
With Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee both coming under the microscope for their struggles as of late, the opportunity is certainly there for an up-and-coming prospect to stake a claim for a more prominent role.
