Brazilian striker Deivid Washington has revealed the Chelsea player who has helped him most during his time at the club.
The Blues had a disappointing January transfer window, as they failed to strengthen the areas they needed to, with the deadline day signing of Mathis Amougou the only arrival.
Chelsea did sanction a number of exits, although the only permanent departure was that of Cesare Casadei who joined Torino.
The Blues signed Washington from Santos in the summer of 2023 in a deal worth around €20m , with the 19-year-old signing a seven year deal at Stamford Bridge.
Despite suffering injuries to both Nicolas Jackson and Marc Guiu, which has left the Blues with no fit senior strikers, the club still allowed Washington to join Santos on loan, where he will link up with Neymar.
Washington has made just three appearances for Chelsea.
Truth be told Washington was never given much of a look in at Chelsea and made just three first team appearances, with the majority of his football coming for the under-21 side.
Washington has now spoken on his return to Santos and has revealed which player helped him most during his time at Chelsea.
“It was a huge experience, god knows all things,” he told Gazeta Esportiva.
“Leaving that year was God’s plan. I wanted to stay at Santos, but I spoke to my parents and had the chance to go to Chelsea. We chose together. God spoke to me and we went to Chelsea.

“It was a huge experience, I had great players, like Thiago Silva. I was very lucky to work with them and have this huge experience. It was not a mistake. I left when I had to leave and came back when I had to come back.”
It’s clear Washington doesn’t have a future at the club and the Blues will be hoping his loan spell is successful so they have a chance to recoup as much of the fee they paid for him as possible.
