George Weah has admitted that he was made to feel at home by AC Milan during his time with the club, despite openly being a Juventus supporter.

Weah had an illustrious playing career that saw him feature for Monaco and Paris Saint-Germain in France before making the move to Milan in 1995, where he remained until 2000. From there he went to Chelsea on loan and then Manchester City, before finishing his playing days with Marseille and Al Jazira.

He remains the only African Ballon d’Or and FIFA World Player of the Year winner in history, winning the Scudetto twice while with the Rossoneri and then becoming the president of Liberia after embarking on a career in politics when he hung his boots up.

Weah was one of the guests of the Festival dello Sport organised by La Gazzetta dello Sport in Trento and he spoke about his time with Milan plus the rumours that his son Timothy could have ended up there.

“They made me feel at home right away, from day one. Berlusconi, Galliani and their teammates and then the affection of the people, something incredible even today. And to think that I was a Juventus fan, but I always scored against the Bianconeri even if I missed a penalty once,” he said (via MilanPress).

“My son? I spoke to Maldini about him and he was watching him for Milan, but then Juventus took him. I’m happy, I’ve always supported the Bianconeri because of Platini. I’m convinced that he also has a lot of room for improvement.”
