The Atlanta Utd linked forward silenced a few doubters with two classy finishes in Dingwall on Saturday in Celtic’s patient 4-1 victory over a compact Ross County side. The Atlanta links have now cooled somewhat after the embarrassing episode last week when the official MLS website posted an inaccurate report that Kyogo had joined Ronny Delia’s new team. Apologies were duly issued for the bizarre error but supporters were left believing that there’s no smoke without fire.
“The situation with Celtic’s Kyogo Furuhashi has cooled. Atlanta still interested, but focused on Latte Lath/Edouard. Official MLS league site accidentally/mistakenly published a release saying Atlanta signed Kyogo this week. It was quickly removed and MLS issued an apology,” American journalist Tom Bogert reports.
“Atlanta United DP No. 9 search update: The club are focused on two targets, per sources: Emmanuel Latte Lath (26) of Middlesbrough Odsonne Edouard (26) of Crystal Palace (loan at Leicester) Either would be a huge deal. All details here.”
Meanwhile Kyogo has now leaped to joint top of the Scottish Premiership goalscoring charts alongside Dundee United’s Sam Dalby with the duo now equally shared on 10 goals.
Brendan Rodgers made it clear in his pre-match media conference on Friday afternoon that Kyogo remains a talismanic figure for Celtic despite speculation circulating around a potential January transfer window exit for the 29 year-old.

And now, skipper Callum McGregor believes that Kyogo like in previous seasons, is still the difference maker for the Scottish champions in tight matches — evident with Celtic’s win over the weekend.
“He’s a top player and has given us so many good memories in such big games,” the Celtic captain said, as reported by Daily Mail. “He’s been the difference; he’s been decisive for us. I’ve probably run out of superlatives for him, to be honest. But he’s still such a huge and important part of what we’re doing and we’re really lucky to have him as well.”

“So, I’m sure that the club will want to keep him as long as we can because he’s a huge player for us and, again, in sticky games like this, he can come in and make the difference and that’s what you need for your strikers.”
“His record’s been incredible since he came in. That’s what this club is. We always want to keep moving forward and, if there’s business to be done, then we want to do it and just keep pushing everybody in the right direction.”

The skipper added, “so, obviously, the club will look after that. But, like I said, we want to add quality to the squad as well, not just numbers. Hopefully whoever comes in and whatever position, then that is adding to the quality as well.”
“He’s scoring goals, he’s still working hard for the team. I don’t know if he’s celebrating more or not, I’m not reading too much into that. But anytime I see him train, any time I see him play for the team, he’s still giving his all, so that would suggest that he’s happy and wants to be part of the team.”
