“I am really motivated to do well for this great club,” Nicolas Kuhn

Welcome to Celtic, Nicolas…

Celtic last night, as expected, announced the signing of winger Nicolas Kuhn from Rapid Wien for a fee believed to be in the region of £3 million. The former German youth international is highly regarded and looks very much like a player who will add quality to our squad.

He’s no ‘prospect’ as he’s 24 and been a first team regular for Rapid Wien. So hopes will be high for Nicolas to come in and make an immediate impact. He’s got pace, he can press, and he can beat a player. He’s very much a Brendan Rodgers type of player.

Nicolas will be challenging the likes of Liel Abada, Yang and James Forrest for a first team berth, so that competition can only be a good thing. He’s also naturally left footed so he could as easily take up the wide left position, offering competition to Daizen Maeda and Luis Palma.

Nicolas’s arrival will only strengthen us as we aim to defend our title. Hopefully he’s joined by a few more faces in the coming weeks as we head into a vital stage of the season.

In his Welcome To Celtic Interview, shown above, on Celtic TV last night, Nicolas had this to say about signing for Celtic.

“I feel great that I’m finally here and I can’t wait. It’s a really big club and I’ve heard a lot about it. I’ve watched a couple of games already and we had a friendly against Celtic. It’s a big club and I’m really happy to be here.’

“I am really motivated to do well for this great club and I want to get working immediately as we face our challenges in the League and the Cup this year, so I’m really excited for what’s coming.

“In the end, at Celtic, it’s about doing all we can to win every game, so that is the challenge here. I can’t wait to get going and do my very best for our supporters.”

Celtic’s new number 10 added after getting his first look at Paradise: “I’m really excited and I can’t wait to play out here. It’s unbelievable and I don’t really have words. This is what every footballer dreams of. The fans are so important and what I hear about the fans here means it’s going to be nice.

“I’m variable, I can play on the left, as a second striker or as a number 10. Most of the time, though, I have played on the right wing. The manager told me he really wanted me and we had a really good talk. Now I’m looking forward to meeting my team-mates and everyone at the stadium.”
