The Terriers have been urged to do whatever they can to rid themselves of the striker duo this summer...
This article is part of Football League World's 'Terrace Talk' series, which provides personal opinions from our FLW Fan Pundits regarding the latest breaking news, teams, players, managers, potential signings and more…
As far as starts to the current summer transfer window go, Huddersfield Town have perhaps been the most impressive when it comes to completing deals ahead of the 2025-26 season.
The Terriers hierarchy, including owner Kevin Nagle, would have been disappointed to finish 10th in League One last season after banking on Michael Duff to take them back to the Championship at the first time of asking, but the American businessman is wasted no time in bolstering the squad for new manager Lee Grant.
No fewer than six new faces have arrived at the John Smith's Stadium so far, with Ryan Ledson, Marcus Harness and the returning Murray Wallace adding Championship experience on free transfers, whilst compensation will be paid to Wycombe Wanderers and Lincoln City respectively for defensive duo Joe Low and Sean Roughan, with Aston Villa youngster Josh Feeney a fourth defender to arrive in West Yorkshire, albeit on a temporary basis.
Whilst it has been positive signs so far for Town fans, there are still some potential issues that could turn a good window so far into a frustrating one.
And when asked what one thing could make Huddersfield's transfer window a nightmare, FLW's Terriers fan pundit Graeme Rayner pointed towards the vast array of strikers still on the books that are likely going to have little impact next season - and the consequences if they do indeed remain at the club beyond the transfer deadline.
"It's already been a pretty good window, but I do still think we need to address a couple of areas," Graeme told FLW.
"I think we need some quality out wide, and we need a 'baller', a quality, controlling midfielder. The other nightmare scenario I suppose would be that we don't manage to offload some of the players that clearly aren't going to figure.
"We're very number-heavy in the striker positions, but we're perhaps lacking in the sort of qualities we need, and also in players that will stay fit.
"So, probably our most talented strikers are the ones that have struggled for fitness, but then we have other players who if we're honest aren't going to figure, Freddie Ladapo, Bojan Radulovic, and I suppose a nightmare scenario might be we end up with those two still on the books without another club showing interest in them, because they take up a wage, so that would be a real nightmare I think.
"Other than that, I suppose what happened in January was we sold our best defender (Michal Helik) and didn't replace them, and that potentially and arguably cost us real chances of promotion.
"So, if we were to let someone really significant go without a replacement, like a Lee Nicholls or a Brodie Spencer, if we were to let one of those go without being able to replace them, that would be potentially a nightmare as well, but I think it's gone alright so far, so I don't see that coming to pass."
Without knowing what formation Lee Grant is going to opt for upon his first few matches in charge of Huddersfield, the club still have a massive amount of striker talent on the books - but you'd argue that quite a few need to be let go.
The towering Kyle Hudlin has already had his contract terminated, but the more experience, expensive figures of Ladapo and Radulovic remain - 58 appearances and three goals between the pair for Huddersfield is a stat that is a sight for sore eyes.
And when you add Rhys Healey into the mix, someone who has only played for the club 23 times in a season-and-a-half due to injuries, it indicates the struggles Town have on their hands when it comes to their striking department, without even mentioning Joe Taylor's injury last season after arriving from Luton Town and Dion Charles not scoring in any of his 18 appearances.
The current speculation that Stoke City striker Nathan Lowe is being targeted by the Terriers on a permanent basis only goes to show that the club doesn't really trust the majority of its current striker options, and it's going to push Ladapo and Radulovic further down the pecking order - there's no real argument to the notion that it would be best if the club could get both off the books this summer, even if it means making a loss on the latter following his undisclosed fee switch from HJK Helsinki in 2024.
