Blackburn Rovers found themselves in need of some attacking reinforcements during this summer's transfer window.

Following his remarkable goalscoring exploits that kept the club in the Championship last season, Sammie Szmodics' move to the Premier League with Ipswich Town always felt inevitable.

Meanwhile, centre-forward options Sam Gallagher and Semir Telalovic were also sold to Championship rivals Stoke City and German second-tier side SSV Ulm respectively.

As a result, there was an emphasis on new attacking signings at Blackburn in the summer, with Yuki Ohashi and Makhtar Gueye among those brought to Ewood Park.

Since then, the two players have given supporters plenty to talk about with their performances for John Eustace's side, one way or another.

Mixed starts at Blackburn for new striker duo

Initially, both Ohashi and Gueye made excellent starts to their time at Ewood Park, with some impressive performances.

Having joined from Sanfrecce Hiroshima in his native Japan, Ohashi scored in each of his first three appearances for the club.

He would also net a brilliant brace in a 3-0 win over Bristol City in mid-September, quickly establishing himself as a fans' favourite at Ewood Park.

Equally, Gueye would also become a popular figure among supporters, following his move from RWD Molenbeek in Belgium.

His work rate and willingness to put himself about caused plenty of trouble for defenders, and won him the admiration of many Blackburn fans, as did his post-win celebrations with the crowd.

However, things have become somewhat tougher for the duo in recent weeks, with Ohashi not scoring in eight appearances since that win over Bristol City.

Gueye, meanwhile, also seems to have struggled to impose himself on defences in the same way and he is still waiting for his first goal in the league for the club.

Blackburn, though, will hope that changes sooner rather than later, both to kickstart an upturn in results, and ensure the wages they are paying the pair, are justified.

Here, we've taken a look at just how much the centre-forward duo are currently estimated to be earning following their moves to Lancashire.

Ohashi earning more than Gueye at Ewood Park

As per estimations from Capology, it is Ohashi that is currently the higher earner of the two centre-forward signings made by Rovers in the summer.

The Japanese attacker is thought to be being paid £15,000 per week at Ewood Park, which works out at a total of £780,000 per year.

That is £5,000 more per week than Gueye, who is estimated to be receiving £10,000 per week, or £520,000 per year, during his time with Blackburn.

Both players signed three-year contracts with the club in the summer, securing their futures at Ewood Park until the end of the 2026/27 season.

As a result, Ohashi is in line to earn £2.34 million during his time in Lancashire, while Gueye could be set to receive £1.56 million over the course of that period.

So far, given the fact it is Ohashi who has made the greater impact in front of goal, there are some who may feel that his higher salary is somewhat justified at this moment in time.

Even so, Blackburn will no doubt be hoping both players can quickly get back to their early season form, to help the club build on what was a promising start to the campaign.
