Arsenal face Villarreal in a pre-season friendly at the Emirates Stadium this evening.
Mikel Arteta’s men return to North London to take on the Spanish side in their penultimate pre-season fixture. Arsenal will hope to bounce back from a disappointing defeat to Tottenham Hotspur in their last pre-season game, the first-ever North London derby played away from UK soil.
The club’s fans will get a first chance to watch their new signings at the Emirates. Christian Norgaard, Cristhian Mosquera, Kepa Arrizabalaga, Martin Zubimendi and Viktor Gyokeres all made debuts during the tour of Asia. The latter featured as a late substitute against Spurs and will hope to make his first start for the Gunners.
Noni Madueke could also make his first Arsenal appearance. The winger was granted extended leave over the summer after featuring for former club Chelsea at the FIFA Club World Cup. He is expected to be included in the matchday squad for this evening’s game.
Following the clash with Villarreal, Arsenal also take on Spanish opposition in their final pre-season game. Arteta’s side meet Athletic Club in the Emirates Cup on August 9th. That fixture is the club’s final friendly before their Premier League season opener. Arsenal open the 2025/26 campaign with a trip to face Manchester United at Old Trafford on August 17th.
Arsenal will stream the match against Villarreal live on Arsenal.com and the official app. The cost of streaming the clash is £6.99 for users.
