The March Concacaf Club Ranking chart is out and Orlando City SC is 12th.

Orlando City SC has made the Concacaf Club Ranking chart for March at 12th place. That’s behind only four other MLS clubs. Liga MX factors heavily in this soccer confederation's rankings. Five of that league’s clubs rank higher on the list.

Columbus Crew tops the early ranking and Inter Miami comes in third.

The reason Liga MX polls so heavily in the Concacaf club rankings is that the confederation believes it is the best league in North America. MLS comes in second with the Canadian Premier League third out of three.

Orlando City would have fallen below CD Guadalajara at 13th, except Concacaf recognizes an upward performance trend. The trend was found as Concacaf statisticians tracked Orlando City and opponents using the Elo system.

They update the scores of both teams after each match using a zero-sum approach. But before each match, the expected outcome is calculated using the existing club rankings of both teams and the home team’s advantage.

One club may exceed expectations or overperform and increase its Concacaf Club Ranking score, causing the opponent to underperform. The loser's ranking score is then reduced by an equal amount.

The calculated points come from the difference between the expected outcome and the actual outcome.

Concacaf rankings are based on results from competitions including MLS, Liga MX, and other domestic first-division professional leagues, regional cups such as the Leagues Cup, domestic cups that qualify clubs for Concacaf club competitions, Concacaf Champions League, and FIFA Club World Cup.

Orlando City SC will continue to perform, and even over-perform, to rise in these rankings. The players will achieve this by first overcoming bad habits that opponents may exploit.

By mid-season 2024, the club drilled and eventually overcame the second-half speed trap that opponents used to confuse and eventually defeat them. But these drills started before game two in 2025.
