According to Football Insider, the winger is closing in on a move to the London outfit following his departure from Peterborough United.

The 23-year-old’s contract with the Posh expired at the end of last season, leading to intense speculation over the next step in his career.

It is now understood that he is closing in on a move to QPR, who have hijacked a possible deal with Rangers.

Here we use estimated figures from Capology to see how much Poku might earn with the Championship club, if this deal goes through…

QPR’s highest paid players

QPR had a weekly wage bill during the 2024/25 season worth £237,508, the 18th highest in the division.

Martí Cifuentes’ side finished 15th in the table, so they managed to out-perform their wage bill by three places, and could’ve done even better but for a difficult run of form to end the term.

The highest paid player in the QPR squad last year was Steve Cook, with the club captain earning £30,000 per week.

This put him at twice the salary of the next best paid player, which was Jack Colback, with the midfielder receiving £15,000-a-week.

Michael Frey and Morgan Fox also earned £15,000 per week last season with the London outfit.

Poku is sure to be a key part of the QPR squad if he joins, which could make him one of the better paid players in the team.

Harvey Vale, Paul Nardi and Nicolas Madsen all received £12,500 per week last season, so Poku’s expected salary range could be between £12,500 and £15,000 each week.

Lucas Andersen and Jake Clarke-Salter were also earning five figures per week, with deals that net them £10,000.

Poku will make the jump up from League One to the Championship, so will be eyeing a greater salary than he received with Peterborough.

Kwame Poku’s potential impact at QPR

It has been reported by West London Sport that an agreement in principle has been struck with Julien Stéphan to take charge of QPR for next season.

The Frenchman will be looking to improve on the side’s 15th place finish in the Championship from the previous campaign.

The 44-year-old has previously worked with the likes of Rennes and Strasbourg, spending two stints in charge of the former.

With his appointment potentially imminent, Poku could be the first arrival of his tenure as manager, albeit a permanent deal has already been completed for Karamoko Dembele this summer.

The winger is likely to play a key role in the attack at Loftus Road, having been a standout performer in League One.

While Peterborough struggled to an 18th place finish, the 23-year-old impressed with his tally of 12 goals and eight assists.

If he is to receive one of the bigger wage packets in the first team squad, then he will be expected to make the step up to the Championship quite smoothly by hitting the ground running and performing well immediately.
