Jude Bellingham took to social media to exclaim his pleasure at his brother Jobe's promotion to the Premier League
England and Real Madrid superstar Jude Bellingham couldn’t hide his joy when reacting to Sunderland’s promotion to the Premier League.
Bellingham’s brother Jobe played a crucial role in the Black Cats’ play-off triumph over Sheffield United, as Sunderland ended their eight-year absence from the top-flight.
Regis Le Bris’ side came from behind to defeat the Blades 2-1, courtesy of a last-gasp winner from Tommy Watson.
And post-match, Real Madrid star Jude couldn’t hide his delight at Sunderland and Jobe’s fantastic achievement.
Posting to his Instagram story following the match, Jude was ecstatic at his brother’s achievement.
"SO F****** PROUD," he said in a caption whilst Jobe smiled and bit onto his winners' medal.
The picture was captured during a post-match FaceTime, highlighting the strong bond between the two brothers, with a further post showing Jobe lifting the play-off final winners trophy on the famous balcony at Wembley.
Wembley glory has now been bestowed upon both the Bellingham brothers, with Jude winning the Champions League in 2024.
Returning to the Premier League will bring forward many rewards for Sunderland, including an increased budget and the ability to attract more players.
However, it may also allow the Black Cats to retain Jobe’s services next season.
That said, the 19-year-old has been linked with a move to Borussia Dortmund by Sky Germany, which could tempt the midfielder to leave the Stadium of Light even with Sunderland’s newfound Premier League status.
Patrick Berger has reported that they want to get him through the door in time for the start of the FIFA Club World Cup, which begins on 14th June, giving the Bundesliga side just three weeks to seal their ideal move for the centre-mid, which could cost between €25-30 million (£21-25 million).
Fellow German first division side RB Leipzig have also been reported to be chasing the teenager's signature this summer. Berger's Sky Sports Germany co-worker, Florian Plettenberg, also said that Leipzig were "pushing hard" to secure a deal for Jobe.
If this is the case, Sunderland would be able to charge a top-flight premium, which could see them receive a better end of the deal.
Time will tell where Jobe decides to play his football next year.
If the 19-year-old makes a move to Germany, he may not enjoy the same status that he currently holds at the Stadium of Light.
In fact, it could potentially halt his development, when playing regular, Premier League football is the other option.
