How Athletic Club are favouring Bayern Munich over Barcelona in Nico Williams talks | OneFootball

The brass at Athletic Club have made clear their preference for star attacker Nico Williams to join Bayern Munich rather than La Liga rivals Barcelona this summer.

That’s according to Diario Sport, who have confirmed that the Basque club have put more favourable conditions in place for the former to land the 22-year-old.

It is of course common knowledge at this point that both Bayern and Barca have earmarked Nico as a leading target with a view to next season.

It is the latter who boast the advantage as things stand, having already reached an agreement on the personal terms of a contract with the Camp Nou brass.

As alluded to above, though, Athletic, are actively working towards keeping Nico away from Hansi Flick’s Barca.

As per a report from Sport, in talks with Bayern:

‘The Bilbao team are more flexible with the deadlines for the collection of the 58 million euros, which with the corresponding CPI amounts to around 62.’

On the other hand, the board at San Mamés are refusing to even open discussions with Barcelona, ‘asking for the full amount (of Nico’s clause) with a single payment’.
