‘He’s changed my career’… Barcelona star opens up on how Deco and Hansi Flick impacted his career | OneFootball

The arrival of Hansi Flick on the FC Barcelona bench allowed several players to take their game to a level higher and these improvements were key as the Blaugranes won the domestic treble of La Liga, Copa del Rey, and Spanish Super Cup.

Among these players, the one whose game saw the most improvement was the winger Raphinha, who emerged as one of the best forwards in Europe this season and is a strong contender for this year’s Ballon d’Or title.

Raphinha talks about Deco’s impact on his career

The Brazilian forward recently appeared in an interview with Mundo Deportivo and talked about different aspects of his career at Barcelona and elsewhere. The winger talked highly about two individuals in particular, the Barcelona Sporting Director Deco, and the head coach Hansi Flick.

About the former, the Samba star said:

“We’ve worked together since my last year in Brazil. He helped me make it to Europe. He took me to Portugal, where I played for Vitória and Sporting, then to France, where I felt important, and he helped me play in the Premier League… and finally here.

We always talked about Barça, even though at first it seemed very far away. He believed in me and helped me take every step to make it here. He helped me achieve my dreams.”

Hansi Flick bringing the best out of him

Talking about the German coach, Raphinha hailed him as the one who brought the best out of him:

“First of all, Flick made me feel important again, at a time when I no longer felt that way—when I saw myself more out than in. I’ve always worked like this, but he brought out the best in me. The coach’s trust means everything. He’s changed my career. This has been the best season of my life.”

The Brazilian star has always spoken highly of Hansi Flick and has already publicly revealed that he would have left Barcelona if not for him. Meanwhile, his relationship with Deco is also well-known, as the current Blaugrana official had him as a client before he left this agency upon accepting the role at the club.

Hopefully, these two individuals will once again be able to get the best out of Raphinha next season, as there is no doubt now that he can be a crucial asset for the team.
