kicker reports that Hertha Berlin’s Ibrahim Maza prefers to stay in Germany as it becomes increasingly likely that he leaves the Hauptstadt in the summer.
During the winter transfer window, AC Milan and Porto both showed interest in the 19 year old. However, Maza rejected any approach from the Italians as he was uninterested in moving while Milan were prepared to offer close to €20m for the forward, an offer Hertha could not refuse.
It is said that Maza has a release clause heading into the summer. The previous clause in his contract is said to be worth at least €9.5m. The new clause’s value is said to vary depending on certain parameters, and the conditions involved are based on Maza’s performance in 2.Bundesliga, how Hertha perform in the rest of the season and where the 19-year-old’s next club plays. Hertha is likely to earn a double-digit sum from the Algerian’s transfer.
In the summer, there will be a host of clubs interested in Maza. On top of Milan and Porto, there is interest from Atletico Madrid in Spain and Leicester, Newcastle, Nottingham, West Ham from the Premier League. While within Germany, there are three teams interested in the 19-year-old. VfB Stuttgart have a long-standing interest in Maza, while Bayer Leverkusen and another unnamed Bundesliga club are interested.
