MIAMI — The FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup Seychelles 2025™ continued Friday, as El Salvador kicked off its campaign against defending champions Brazil in Group D at The Paradise Arena in Victoria, Seychelles.
The six-time champions and all-time leaders in the competition got on the board first as Rodrigo opened the scoring in the 7’ 1P.
Oscar Cruz had an important block at the goal line in the 1’ 1P to keep La Selecta within a one-goal deficit.
The reigning Concacaf Beach Soccer Championship winners tied the encounter in the 12’ 2P as Heber Ramos struck a beautiful hit off the volley to capitalize on a free kick chance. Andersson Castro provided the assist to set up the equalizer.
El Salvador goalkeeper Erick Najera made an important save in the 6’ 2P to deny a bicycle kick attempt from Mauricinho.
Thanger broke the deadlock in favor of Brazil in the 10’ 3P with a bicycle kick goal. Lucao extended the advantage in the 8’ 3P with a header from close range.
Andersson Castro attempted a bicycle kick of his own in the 6’ 3P but was denied the spectacular by Brazil goalkeeper Tiago Bobo.
Cruz had a bicycle kick try of his own in the 2’ 3P but was just over the goal, as El Salvador continued its comeback efforts.
El Salvador will return to the sand at The Paradise Arena to open Sunday’s activities against Oman. Both nations will seek their first points after Oman’s 7-4 defeat to Italy in one of Friday’s earlier encounters.
Fellow Concacaf nation Guatemala will continue its campaign in Group A against hosts Seychelles on Saturday.
