Heading home with great memories

World Cup adventure comes to end

The moment has come. After our final training and recovery session in the USA, the Red Bulls are heading home today on Saturday 28 June. We are left with memories of an incredible adventure for our club, which we may never forget.

Every match was a very special experience in its own way. Who will forget the storm in Cincinnati that caused a delay of around two hours - and our opening win there - or the draw against Al-Hilal in the brutal Washington D.C. heat? There was also incredible attendance in the stadium of the reigning Superbowl winners in Philadelphia - in a match we put in a brave attacking performance in despite our defeat against Real Madrid.

From our point of view, it was a really incredible experience! We prepared for the Club World Cup intensively over the past year, with a lot of work going on in the background. We are returning home with lots of valuable experiences. We played some great matches in incredible stadiums and had so many wonderful times in New York, Washington and Philadelphia. We always thought this trip would be like a new start. I don't want to compare it with a training camp, but it was a good opportunity to see our team grow to a top level very early in the season. We represented FC Red Bull Salzburg and Austrian football well. Our opening win against Pachuca, draw against Al-Hilal and performance in the second half against Real Madrid make me very confident.

We have to take the opportunity to thank you fans! Despite the immense distance, plenty of you came to support our boys. Others were locals who were captivated by our Sound of Salzburg and many followed at home on the TV or on our live text updates - now we can all enjoy a short break before going with full energy into the new season!
