Jürgen Klopp’s nine-year spell at Liverpool FC will come to an end at Anfield on Sunday. During his time, he has brought the club back to the forefront of European football, bringing eight titles to the Merseyside club, including a UEFA Champions League and Premier League.

Whilst he has made a mark on the football club – and the city – he has also had an impact on the players at the club, changing the trajectory of some of their careers. Speaking to Téléfoot, defender Ibrahima Konaté (24), who joined Liverpool from RB Leipzig for €40m back in 2021, paid tribute to the impact that Klopp has had on his career.

“He gave me so much, really put me in the thick of it because it was Liverpool, the Premier League, the Champions League, it’s really something else. He allowed me to be called up by the France national team and to play in my first World Cup,” said the French centre-back, owing his breakthrough at international level to the departing German manager.

In Klopp’s final season in charge, Liverpool won the EFL Cup, beating Chelsea in the final at Wembley, whilst his side will also finish third in the Premier League. The Merseyside club had been in contention for the title before a drop-off in April saw them drop out of the race.
