An insight into the leading candidates to step into Barcelona’s backline for the club’s upcoming meeting with Real Sociedad has on Friday been provided.
The info comes courtesy of Diario Sport, and points towards a pair of options as being taken into consideration by Hansi Flick and his coaching staff.
Though it is not yet certain, Barcelona are quite likely to be forced into shaking things up at the heart of defence this weekend.
This comes after one of the club’s two first-choice centre-halves, in Pau Cubarsí, picked up a nasty facial injury.
The recipient of a heavy blow en route to Barca’s Champions League downing of Red Star Belgrade during the week, the 17-year-old was sewn up with no fewer than ten stitches.
With the possibility remaining of the wound opening up once more, Cubarsí, in turn, could well be afforded a well-earned rest when the Blaugrana make the trip to Anoeta on Sunday night.
And, in case of as much, two leading options have emerged for boss Hansi Flick.
As per a report from Diario Sport, the first involves affording a fresh start to youngster Sergi Domínguez.
And the other would see Jules Koundé shifted into a more central role, opening the door for Héctor Fort to secure a 2nd successive La Liga start at right-back.
