Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick has tonight provided an early insight into the welbeing of goalkeeper Marc-André ter Stegen.
This, of course, comes after the German international set alarm bells ringing across Catalunya’s capital earlier this evening.
En route to Barcelona’s 5-1 La Liga drubbing of Villarreal, Ter Stegen was stretchered off late in the first-half, with what appeared to be a serious injury.
This came after the 32-year-old landed awkwardly on his right leg, before immediately going to ground clutching his knee.
So serious was the situation that Ter Stegen was left in tears, on his way off the pitch.
Speaking to the media on the back of the full-time whistle on Saturday, it therefore came as little surprise when the name of his no.1 was swiftly put to the aforementioned Hansi Flick.
And, in his response, Barcelona’s headmaster went on to confirm that Ter Stegen has likely picked up a ‘serious’ injury:
“We have to wait to find out about Ter Stegen. It looks like a serious injury. That has already been seen on the field.”
