FC Barcelona had a highly successful 2024-25 season in which they won all the big domestic titles, including La Liga, the Copa del Rey, and the Spanish Super Cup.
However, despite this successful campaign, the Blaugranes are still expected to go into the next season with a significantly changed team.
In fact, they have already added one new player to their team for this upcoming season, i.e., the goalkeeper Joan Garcia, and are also close to completing the signing of the winger Nico Williams.
Meanwhile, several departures are also expected from the team, and Fichajes reports that there are four players in particular whose departure Hansi Flick has requested from the Catalan club ahead of the pre-season, i.e., Ansu Fati, Inaki Pena, Oriol Romeu, and Pablo Torre.
The case for Ansu Fati is clear, as he was one of the most under-utilized players in Flick’s squad during the last season. He was close to a move to Monaco some days ago, but this operation is getting complicated due to his high wages. However, Flick is not counting on the winger and wants his departure to free up wages and space in the attack.
Oriol Romeu spent the last season on loan at Girona and is now returning to Barcelona. However, his style of play is not in line with the German coach’s requirements, and the Catalans are already working to find a new destination for him.
Pablo Torre also did not enjoy a lot of prominence last season, despite some promising cameos, and it seems like he is going to leave for a loan this summer, with Villarreal being the most likely destination. Flick actually values the player for his potential, but believes he needs to leave in search of more game time.
Lastly, Inaki Pena’s situation is going to deteriorate even further after the signing of Joan Garcia, and he will have to find a new team to continue his growth and development.
Deco is already working to find new destinations for these players, and it remains to be seen whether any of them will still be in the Barcelona squad for the next season.
