Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick has provided an explanation for his decision to leave Ansu Fati out of his matchday squad to face Sevilla.
Barcelona are of course currently locked in action.
Fresh off a five-goal drubbing of Valencia in the Copa del Rey in midweek, the Blaugrana have turned attentions back towards matters in La Liga, in a trip to Sevilla.
Boss Hansi Flick again opted for a strong squad of players to visit The Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán, featuring the likes of Raphinha, Lamine Yamal, and Robert Lewandowski.
The continued availability of such options, though, meant that another member of Barca’s attacking ranks was left back in Catalunya.
Absent from the club’s squad once again this weekend is youngster Ansu Fati.
Amid what has been a season to forget to date for the 22-year-old, the subject of his latest omission was in turn put to Hansi Flick ahead of kick-off on Sunday.
And the German tactician was characteristically honest in his response, explaining:
“Ansu Fati’s absence? It’s a technical decision. I have talked to him honestly. He is working and he is getting closer to the team.”
