Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick is giving consideration to affording a first-team call-up to an up-and-coming member of the club’s defensive ranks.
That’s according to journalist Moisés Llorens, who points towards Jofre Torrents as the player in question.
The subject of Barcelona’s defensive options has of course prominent talking point in the Spanish media headlines over the last 24 hours.
This comes after the Blaugrana were dealt a blow, upon Alejandro Balde suffering an injury setback.
En route to Barca’s La Liga comeback over Leganés, the 21-year-old was forced into a premature departure from proceedings, with what has since been confirmed as a hamstring issue.
As much leaves Hansi Flick and his coaching staff short on options at left-back, at a crucial point in the campaign.
And this situation, as alluded to above, could well culminate in a breakthrough La Masia talent being drafted into the senior setup in Catalunya’s capital.
As per a report from ESPN’s Moisés Llorens:
‘Left-back Jofre Torrents (18 years old) is being considered by Hansi Flick to be invited to train with the first-team in the coming weeks due to Balde’s absence. He will do preseason training with the first-team next summer.
