Hansi Flick again confirms Barcelona’s no.1 goalkeeper | OneFootball

Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick has on Wednesday moved to reiterate that a first-choice goalkeeper has been established in his squad.

The player in question? Wojciech Szczęsny.

Shot-stopper Szczęsny has for his part of course played an increasingly prominent role for Barcelona over the course of recent weeks.

After initially being condemned to a backup role behind Iñaki Peña following his free agent arrival, the Pole’s experience has seen him favoured by boss Hansi Flick of late.

In fact, in Barca’s last nine fixtures across all competitions, Szczęsny has featured from the off in all but two.

Speaking to the media in his pre-match press conference ahead of the Blaugrana’s Copa del Rey quarter-final meeting with Valencia on Wednesday, the subject of the goalkeeper situation in his squad was in turn put to Hansi Flick once more.

And the German showed little hesitation in reiterating the fact that:

“Tek (Szczesny) is the number 1.”
