Millenic Alli took to Instagram after his winning goal for Luton Town against Derby County.
Millenic Alli has delivered a Luton Town rallying cry after his goal secured his side a vital three points in a relegation six-pointer against Derby County on Good Friday.
The 25-year-old joined the Hatters towards the end of the winter transfer window from Exeter City, in a deal that was reportedly worth around £1.5m.
Alli has worked his way into the side after scoring his first goal for the club against Stoke City a couple of weeks ago. The Irishman doubled his account for his new club at Pride Park, with an even more important winning goal against the Rams.
Matt Bloomfield's side now have Championship survival in their sights, sitting in 22nd place in the relegation zone, only under the red line on goal difference.
Following the victory, Alli took to Instagram to celebrate the three points, and launch a rallying cry ahead of a massive final three games for Luton.
The Dublin-born attacker was mainly utilised as an impact substitute in his early days with the club, but strong performances from the bench have seen Alli break into the starting XI. After yesterday's strike, the attacker has now scored two goals in his last three games.
Taking to Instagram after what could prove to be a massive three points in the grand scheme of things, Alli posted the caption: "We had to fight till the last whistle & now we have to keep pushing in the last 3 games! Massive 3pts & ⚽️, God is good 🙏🏾🧡"
The post showcased the 25-year-old celebrating with teammates Isaiah Jones and Jordan Clark after Alli hit the back of the net just ten minutes into the game.
The importance of the next three games certainly won't be underestimated by the Hatters, as Alli suggested in his Instagram post. The win over their relegation rivals was just the first step towards survival, which they must now follow up.
It's been a really tough campaign for Luton Town.
Popular manager Rob Edwards departed the club by mutual agreement in early January, with Championship rookie Bloomfield then tasked with keeping the Hatters in the division.
Despite having won just four of his matches in charge, the Hatters have lost just one in their last six Championship outings, which has seen them slowly eat away at that gap separating them from survival.
The next three games for the 41-year-old and his team are crucial, as they must follow up the win over Derby with more wins if they're to retain their Championship status.
However, all three of Luton's remaining games are against teams in and around the play-off fight. This certainly makes life more difficult for the Bedfordshire outfit, especially when you consider how inferior their goal difference is compared to that of those above them.
As mentioned, Friday's win was just the first step on the ladder for Luton. They'll be well aware of how tough their fixture list is, but the fighting spirit the side showed yesterday and that Alli mentioned on Instagram will need to be on show in these next three games.
