Marcus Rashford was the only starting attacking player not to score against Brentford, but the England international still performed well and registered an assist for Alejandro Garnacho.

We know that goals will grab headlines, as has been the case since Saturday’s 2-1 win over Brentford. It was a different story to old because United took their chances against Thomas Frank’s side, who controversially took the lead just before the break.

That was before United staged a dramatic comeback to claim all three points in a worthy victory over Brentford at Old Trafford to get back to winning ways following a five-match winless streak across all competitions. Alejandro Garnacho and Rasmus Hojlund provided the goals to see of Brentford in a second half that saw United dominate the visitors. The assists were credited to Rashford and club captain Bruno Fernandes.

While Garnacho and Hojlund have rightly grabbed the headlines for their fantastic goals, respected journalist Henry Winter has highlighted Rashford as a player deserving of credit for his display against the Bees.

Putting respect back in Marcus Rashford’s name

The forward completed 40 of his 45 attempted passes, created four chances and touched the ball seven times inside Brentford’s box.

Winter knows Rashford has come up against harsh criticisms and we can all see that he is playing better than he was last season, with goals and assists beginning to back that up.

“Marcus Rashford, deserving of all the praise,” Winter wrote on X. “Very good player. Good crosser and that pace is difficult for opponents to handle. Great work ethic in Manchester United vs Brentford, just needs this stellar level every week. Rashford cares about this team and his club, and he showed that again today.”

Hopefully, it won’t be long before Rashford is back to his very best.

The three points lift United back into the top half of the Premier League table ahead of next week’s clash against West Ham, who will be without star player Mohammed Kudus following his red card against Tottenham in the early kick-off this weekend.
