Jack Grealish is delighted to be back firing on all cylinders for club and country after experiencing the ‘worst summer’ of his life.

The Manchester City winger was left out of England’s Euro 2024 squad, admitting previously that he struggled to watch his teammates progress all the way to the final in Germany due to personal disappointment.

And with a full pre-season under his belt, Grealish has made a very promising start to the new campaign, as he registered his third England goal during the commanding Nations League victory over Ireland.

“I need to start playing regularly and scoring goals and that’s what I did today,” Grealish spoke post match.

“I’m getting there. From a personal point of view I’m happy.

“Going to the fans to celebrate and hear them sing my name, there’s no better feeling.

“It was probably the worst summer of my life because you can see everything happening in front of you.”

England interim manager Lee Carsley added: “He hasn’t got anything to prove to us.

“You can see his quality. It will do him good to get another goal for England. Hopefully he can kick on again now.”

Grealish and Arsenal midfielder Declan Rice were subjected to constant booing throughout in Dublin due to their previous appearances for Ireland before switching allegiances.

“It’s what me and Dec expected,” Grealish continued.

“We have nothing bad to say, we both enjoyed our time. There’s no bad blood. I have a lot of Irish in my family.”
