Gladbach's flying start

The home side burst out of the blocks, taking the lead after just five minutes. Fabio Chiarodia rose highest to meet a corner from Franck Honorat, powering a header past Luca Philipp in the Hoffenheim goal. The early goal energised the Foals, who continued to press forward.

Their dominance was rewarded in the 32nd minute when Rocco Reitz doubled the lead with a barnstorming run and clever finish, sending the home fans into raptures. The excitement briefly peaked when Honorat appeared to have made it 3-0, but his goal was disallowed after a VAR check for a marginal offside.

Hoffenheim fight back

Just as it seemed Gladbach would take a comfortable lead into half-time, Hoffenheim struck back. In the 43rd minute, Arthur Chaves pounced on a rebound to slot home, giving the visitors a lifeline. The goal changed the complexion of the match, paving the way for a thrilling second half. Hoffenheim came out firing after the break, and in the 54th minute, Marius Bülter levelled the scores with a well-placed thunderbolt from the edge of the area.

The drama reached its peak when substitute Haris Tabaković headed Hoffenheim into the lead in the 81st minute, seemingly completing a remarkable turnaround. But Gladbach refused to be beaten. Player of the Match: Franck Honorat

In a match filled with outstanding performances, Honorat stood out for Gladbach.
