Legendary Roma captain Giuseppe Giannini weighed in on the club’s latest decision to dismiss Daniele De Rossi.
Earlier today, Giannini was stopped by reporters and asked about the situation brewing inside Trigoria.
“There’s little to comment on, it’s the fate of the coaches. It’s clear that since he was a legend and a point of reference it’s an even bigger shame, but it’s always the same old thing.”
“The coaches are at the mercy of the clubs and the results, these two are key components to the entire path of a professional.”
“I was very surprised. We’re talking about someone who had just renewed his contract,” said Giannini.
“I expect a civil protest at the stadium on Sunday and I believe it is in the air. I say this above all because of how this dismissal happened and because I know the environment.”
“I’m interested in Roma moving up in the standings and getting results, then if Juric or another is there it doesn’t matter with all due respect.”
“I was pleased that Daniele was there, because he’s Roman and has worn our shirt for many years, but I think it pleased the whole community a bit, not just me. There will certainly be support for Roma though, people want to see them do well.”
“The Friedkins? Every professional chooses what to do, they have always said little, I think this is their philosophy. In my opinion at this juncture they didn’t intervene too much, they will have endorsed the choice, but I think the decision was made by other people.”
“It’s not a question of being ungenerous, the clubs are managed by funds or foreigners who pay little attention to the history of the club or a player, I have this impression. They don’t weigh and don’t give the right value to things, but they are the owners and they decide what to do, assuming one’s responsibilities”.
