Cristiano Giuntoli addressed a few ongoing negotiations and transfer-market-related topics before the clash with Stuttgart. Mattia Perin, who had a heroic performance in the loss, is close to extending his contract. The exec spoke with Sky (via La Gazzetta dello Sport).
“We’re in talks with him, and we hope to prolong his deal for two more years soon. He’s proving to be very attached to our colors and to be a quality player and a great professional. I think he deserves it.”
Giuntoli stated that Francisco Conceiçao was likely to stay past his loan spell.
“We’re in agreement about continuing together, then we have to respect the timetables.”
The official confirmed that Juventus would be looking for a defender in January.
“We know we have to do something in the back. We’ll wait for the right opportunity to intervene.”
The director commented on the injury suffered by Douglas Luiz in the pre-game warm-ups.
“He felt some pain, and the coach stopped him out of precaution. It appears to be nothing serious, but it’s unfortunate.”
Giuntoli is pleased with how the season started.
“We’re very happy with the results, the balance of the team, and the football it proposes. Since we have a very young squad, you always fear that these dreams could get shattered, but we want to keep growing and doing well.”
Juventus suffered their first defeat of the season against Stuttgart on Tuesday night, losing one-nil due to a stoppage-time goal by El Bilal Touré after Mattia Perin saved a PK late in the game.
