Paris Saint-Germain look to be closing in on a deal for Lille OSC goalkeeper Lucas Chevallier (23), with Foot Mercato writing that a verbal agreement between the two clubs has been reached. It’s a situation which has left Gianluigi Donnarumma’s (26) future uncertain.
The Italian international has been linked to several clubs this summer, with the current PSG no.1 in the final year of his contract at the club. Notably, Manchester United and Manchester City are both interested in the goalkeeper.
It was expected that Chevalier’s impending arrival would signal a changing of the guard in the capital. However, as RMC Sport journalist Fabrice Hawkins explains, Donnarumma might not leave this summer. The goalkeeper is reportedly attached to the PSG project and will not leave unless he is fully convinced by a prospective club.
Hawkins writes that some at PSG are considering whether Chevalier and Donnarumma could compete for the starting role, with Luis Enrique having the final decision.
