Genoa want to extend Vitinha’s loan away from Marseille

The future of Olympique de Marseille’s most expensive signing looks like it will be away from the South of France for another season, with Gianluca Di Marzio reporting that Genoa want to extend Vitinha’s (24) loan.

Genoa secured the signing of Vitinha on the last day of the winter transfer window on a loan deal with an option to buy for around €25 million. Despite the Italian club being pleased with his performances, the club have not yet committed one way or another on whether they’d like to keep the forward permanently.

They would prefer instead to extend their current deal for another season and keep the Portuguese striker on a loan deal. How Marseille will respond is not yet known, it appears as if there is no future for Vitinha in La Provence, but with the club needing to rebuild this summer they will be keen for their outgoing players to bring in some sort of income.
