For AC Milan fans, the game against Lecce will not stick out in the calendar. Nevertheless, the club are already looking ahead to their trip to Salento.
There are certainly ‘better’ fixtures in the list for fans, and this can be for a multitude of reasons, but Milan, on the face of it, are strangely circling March 8 in their calendar already.
A strange one indeed, but there is reasoning. As Gazzetta dello Sport (via Milan Press) writes, the Rossoneri will be without Kyle Walker, who has been a mainstay recently, and Ruben Loftus-Cheek, who has not featured in nearly two months through injury in this week’s fixtures.
However, both Englishmen will be ready to return to the field in Salento, barring any surprises. In addition to this, Alessandro Florenzi will also be available for selection again after spending the full season so far sidelined with an ACL injury – which he suffered during the American pre-season tour.
Despite his injury problem, the defender has regularly travelled with the squad to remain within the group and offer support, but whether Sergio Conceicao will see this as a reason to give the defender minutes remains to be seen.
Whilst there are no indications of the condition of the players for that game – whether they are ready for 90 minutes or five – Conceicao will hope for the ‘fullest’ squad possible, so the inclusion of this trio again will be immensely welcomed.
